Timely training for earthquake preparedness

In the event of a disaster – a nearby 6.0 earthquake, for example, or even worse — you must be prepared to shelter in your home for a minimum of 72 hours. Are you ready?

Sonoma Valley residents are urged to take part in the 2014 Great California ShakeOut, promoting earthquake preparedness. Vintage House will host a free S.C.O.P.E. (Sonoma Citizens Organized to Prepare for Emergencies) Training, presented by the Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue training team, Tuesday, October 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The team offers basic emergency preparedness information, including what to do during and after an earthquake, household utilities control, small fire suppression, neighborhood outreach and organization, and much more. The free presentation and learn important information about disaster preparedness.

The recent Napa quake was reminder that in California, it’s not a matter of if, but when we will have an earthquake. If you’re new to Sonoma, recently moved residences, or have never had disaster preparedness training or a plan, this training is for you.
