Failure to respect residents

Posted on October 24, 2014 by Submitted

Any Sonoma Resident who has ever wanted to bypass Highway 12 Traffic, has surely used Verano Ave, between 5th West and Highway 12. Maybe what they might not have realized is that, it cuts right through a residential Neighborhood.
Yesterday, as I was coming home from work, I watched in Amazement as kids were getting off their busses, the same erratic driver sped aroud the flashing Lights, because they were in a hurry. Verano Avenue is just another avenue that is plagued by the drivers who care less for the local residents and more for their lack of planning.
From local car dealers, parents attenpting to get their kids to whst ever instance, to now Heavy Haulers, ignoring the posted weight limits, Verano Avenue has become another accident waiting to happen and the drivers seeming not to recognize it.
There are 4 posted Stop Signs between 5th Street and Highway 12, on any given Weekday, you can literally hear, and recognize the same drivers Failing to stop, failing to stay below the posted Speed Limit and if waved at, to slow down, either flip the Salute or Increase their Speed Limit.
Sadly, as the Frosty Mornings begin, more drivers will fail to defrost their windows or make calculations for the “Jump to Light Speed”. Either losing traction at take off or failing to stop all together. This too, is easily recognized by the reoccuring sound of their distinct, driving behavior.
As the Tan and Yellow Porsche Drivers, the Red Mazda Miata and tge Older Grey Nissan, make their way home this Friday, I fail to wonder if the recognition and impossibility of being held accountable for their reclessness is why they continue to disobey the Right they probably insist on in their own neighbirhoods.
