The Sonoma Stompers are seeking locals who are willing to open their homes to players for the 2015 season. Host families have played an important role in minor league baseball since its inception. With high hopes to make it to the pros, Stompers players, and their colleagues on other teams and in similar leagues, make small salaries. Most players relocate to places, like Sonoma, far away from their friends and families with aims to be recruited to the next level.

To support a player, you simply need to have a spare bedroom (and if you are feeling generous, room for two players to share a room). Stompers players have their own transportation and are fed before and after games. You aren’t under any obligation to cook them breakfast, lunch, or dinner (though I am sure they will appreciate it!).

As a host family, you receive season tickets, discounts on concessions and merchandise, on-field recognition, and invitations to special events like a welcome party during Spring Training. If you don’t know if you want to host a player for the entire season, you can host a player for the 10-day Spring Training and see what you think!

With your help, Stompers players can have a safe place to rest their heads and save their money for the summer to continue to work towards their major league dreams. You never know, the young man you invite into your home may be the next Madison Bumgarner.
