Creek to Peak

Posted on April 23, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Greenbelt Alliance and Regional Parks present a 4-mile walk from Sonoma Creek in Maxwell Farms Regional Park on the west side of Sonoma to the top of the Overlook Trail, Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m.

The outing begins with a meet-and-greet opportunity with Teri Shore, Greenbelt Alliance’s new regional director in the North Bay.

From Sonoma Creek, rangers follow the bike path to the new trails through Montini Open Space Preserve to the top of Schocken Hill overlooking Sonoma.

This free walk is family friendly but is considered moderately difficult, with some uphill areas and some dirt and/or rocky paths.

Hikers should bring water, snacks, dress in layers and wear sunscreen. No dogs, please.

Please register in advance at www.greenbelt.org/events. For more information, contact Ken Lavin at [email protected] or (415) 543-6771 x 321. Parking at Maxwell Farms is $7 or free for Regional Park members.

This special event is part of the annual Parks Celebration, a promotion of Sonoma County’s public lands and open spaces from Earth Day through Memorial Day.
