Mike Benziger named Green Personality of the Year

Mike Benziger has been named 2015 Green Personality of the Year by Drinks Business, the leading spirits, beer and wine magazine in the United Kingdom. The magazine’s Green Awards celebrate the work that industry leaders (both individuals and businesses) are doing to promote and incorporate sustainable business practices.

In 1996, Benziger and his family started transitioning their Sonoma Mountain vineyards to meet international biodynamic standards, the highest level of organic farming. All four of Benziger’s estate vineyards are biodynamic. Benziger has become the wine industry’s face of going green and in recent years has gained international recognition for his activism and efforts. He also shares his knowledge as much as possible – hosting seminars onsite at Benziger Family Winery to engage winemakers from around the world to go green.

This is the second green award for Benziger this month. Last week he was awarded the Environmental Award for the first annual California Green Medal. benziger.com
