With a 420 origin story that is rife with misbehavior, marijuana and mystery, Lagunitas Brewing Company’s Waldos’ Special Ale has been released and is available for a limited time across the country.

Waldos’ Special Ale is a tribute to the founders of 420, a code-term for using marijuana. Every year on April 20, at 4:20 PM, fans of cannabis smoke and celebrate. The beer is much anticipated each year and has a five star rating on Beer Advocate, with a 96 out of 100 score. A double IPA, reviewers describe it as having a “fresh and pleasant” aroma an a citrus, “bready” flavor. But watch yourself – it’s 11.1% alcohol level will get you buzzed in a very different manner than the drug it celebrates.

It’s available for a limited time at only two Sonoma Valley locations. It’s currently tapped at Olde Sonoma Public House (18615 Sonoma Hwy, Sonoma) and will be tapped tonight (4/25) Murphy’s Irish Pub. Pints will be $5 a pop and available during the doubleheader appearance of comedian Keon Polee (464 1st St. E, Sonoma). lagunitas.com
