Stretching for the summit

IMG_2536A new “Hiking for Fitness” series at Jack London State Historic Park offers six Saturday morning classes designed to promote fitness and fun. The program begins June 6 with a series overview followed by a Hiking Basics presentation by REI and then an easy, guided hike by Park naturalist Deborah Large.

Subsequent classes introduce strecthcing, yoga and mindfulness to enhance the experience, all as part of a friendly group. Each week, classes (8 to 11 a.m.) will increase in difficulty for the July 18 finale – a guided celebration at the top of the summit.

$15 per class, $75 for series. Participants can sign up for any or all of the six-week series. 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen. Meet in the ranch parking lot. Fees include parking. No hike on July 4.
