10thCelebratioOfWomen897tLorrie Hohorst and Gerry Brinton are the recipients of the 2015 Pulse Award, honored for their dedication, commitment, community involvement, philanthropy and leadership. They were honored by Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation for their outstanding service during the 10th Annual Celebration of Women event.

Lorrie Hohorst has always been involved with volunteering in one form or another, starting on the east coast in the 60s and slowly working her way west. In San Francisco in the early 80s Lorrie researched and edited a guidebook for the US Park Service on how to best recruit and utilize volunteers.

After she moved to Sonoma, Lorrie joined the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County and managed its Sonoma Office. Among other duties she directed the local volunteer referral service, the giving tree program at Christmas time and staged annual volunteer recognition luncheons.

In her volunteer life in Sonoma Lorrie was appointed in the early 90s to the City of Sonoma’s Planning Commission and later served for 10 years on the County Planning Commission. She has been an active participant in all of the Hospitals parcel tax and GO Bond campaigns.

Gerry Brinton and her husband, Bill, bought their home in Glen Ellen in 1984. Gerry, having been raised in Dubuque, Iowa, really wanted their two young sons to experience the freedom of hot summer weather and all it brings. Gerry and Bill have lived here full time since 2001 when they sold their fresh juice business and began their Charles Creek Vineyard adventure. Gerry, educated at Duke and Harvard Business School, has had several careers – CPA, management consultant, property management, finance and administration of the Wiman Beverage Co, and similar duties with Charles Creek.

She has contributed to her communities through Governing Board responsibilities with CPMC in San Francisco and Sutter Health, Sacramento, and several years on the Finance Committee of the Sonoma Valley Hospital. Education is another interest pursued through Board work at Drew School and Enterprise for HS Students in SF and as Treasurer of Sonoma Plein Air Foundation in Sonoma. Her favorite job has been mother of their two wonderful sons, Charley and Bobby, who live in San Francisco.
