CHP 4th of July DUI checkpoints start Friday

This weekend the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will launch the Independence Day Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) starting on Friday, July 3 at 6 PM. It will continue through Sunday, July 5 at 11:59PM.
Officers will be out in full force throughout Sonoma County, with checkpoints around Santa Rosa. But drive sober Sonoma Valley, CHP will be looking for drivers who are speeding, not wearing their seat belts, and any other possibly obvious signs that someone is driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Petaluma and Napa will also have DUI checkpoints and look-outs around their respective cities.
