Posted on July 28, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

5H1A2162-M1Father Bruno Segatta will lead a “Splatter Painting” workshop on August 6, part of the 10-Year Celebration at Vintage Sonoma.

The free party is open to the public, and will include massages, palm readers and henna artists, a buffet, and wine tasting by Cline Cellars and Jacuzzi Family Vineyards.

bruno2“For the last several months I have been talking with organizer Bonnie Walner about her passion to  bring fun and creative art workshops to our residents at Vintage Sonoma and to include local seniors who may want to join us,” said Vintage Sonoma  Business Development Director Grace Starr.

A native of Italy, Father Bruno has practiced and studied art, language and travel since earning his degree from Northridge University in 1982. Father Bruno is a renowned master artist and his paintings are displayed in galleries around the world. For over 30 years, he has instructed painting, drawing, design and the delicate techniques of fresco.

During a visit here in 2013, Father Bruno demonstrated his enthusiastic teaching style and passion for encouraging artistic exploration in his students.

“I want to discover where my students are coming from and build on that,” he said. “So I just give them a brush and let them go at it.”

The maverick artist is known for his globetrotting adventures – he backpacked the Gaza Strip to teach art classes for Palestinian kids and founded a charity to support an orphanage in Nairobi — and a vast network of friends and students around the world.

Now a fan of Sonoma, he returned to Sonoma last year to teach at the commmunity center. His upcoming visit is again hosted by Audrey and Ron Chapman.

“We are thrilled to have Father Bruno lead his Splatter Paint Workshop here at Vintage Sonoma for all Sonoma residents,” Starr said. “Come paint like Jackson Pollock!”

The day’s Splatter Art will be available; Donations will be accepted.

The anniversay celebration will be held Thursday, August 6 from  4:30 to 6:30 p.m. 91 Napa Rd., Sonoma. Please RSVP to 707.387.2986 by August 1. VintageSenior.com/Sonoma.
