Hungarian in the cellar

Posted on October 1, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Daniel Kovacs in SonomaImmersing himself in all aspects of the wine industry –- and with a grape-stained shirt to prove it –- is harvest cellar intern Daniel Kovacs, a young Hungarian man brought here by the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister City Committee to work at Buena Vista Winery.

“We are excited and pleased to have this opportunity to host a wine student from Tokaj,” says Joan Toth, Co-Chair of the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister City Committee. “This one of our core goals.”

Kovacs will be a featured guest at “An Evening in Tokaj,” a Sister City fundraising event on Saturday, November 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Burlingame Hall in Sonoma. The themed event will feature a live presentation of Hungarian choral music by the noted Bay Area Hungarian singing group Corvinus Chorus, Hungarian folk dancing by Wagner Haz, authentic Hungarian cuisine, and wine from Buena Vista Winery, En Garde Winery, and Obsidian Ridge and Poseidon Wineries. Tickets are $50 at groupspaces.com/SonomaSisterAssociation/item/998611.
