Town feels like ‘Disneyland for adults’

Posted on May 13, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The editorial “Tourism vs. Hospitality” was the most informative and thoughtful description we have read about our Sonoma Community.  We have seen changes that made us feel our town was becoming a little plastic like Disneyland for adults.  We have wondered why the Visitors Bureau doesn’t have brochures about the historic buildings and parks tourists can visit in addition to suggestions for hotels, tasting rooms, and wedding sites.

The genuine charm of Sonoma is our history and our agriculture. The genuine charm is the 4th of July celebration, the Harvest Festival, the hiking trails. Sisters, the women’s consignment shop on West Napa, is for everyone. When the hotel is build, where does Sisters go with rents as prohibitive as they have become.

Thank you for clarifying hospitality and tourism. Perhaps our City Council and planning commission members will read your editorial and think.
