Yamada for State Senate

Posted on May 24, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

I’m asking you to vote for my friend Mariko Yamada. I have known Mariko for almost 20 years and know her to be an honest and hard-working public servant as well as a person with the utmost integrity.

I’ve been involved in politics for 50 years, not as an elected official but as a volunteer working to elect candidates running for office. These campaigns have included everything from school boards and City Council up to president of the United States. While I’ve always worked hard to elect those individuals, there have been a few over the years that I have held in the highest regard. Mariko Yamada is one of those candidates and she is running for state Senate in the 3rd District.

Mariko represented Davis as a county supervisor and then served a full six years in the state Assembly before she was termed out in 2014. While Mariko has been involved in a number of important issues, she has especially been dedicated to senior care and care for the disabled.

Her elected county and state positions plus her background as a social worker, equal employment/affirmative action officer, and investigator with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office for Civil Rights makes her highly qualified to represent all the people of the 3rd Senate District.

Unlike Mariko’s opponent, Bill Dodd, she does not have the backing of independent expenditure committees funded by huge corporations and billionaire Republicans. She does, however, have a number of dedicated folks like me willing to work hard to see that she is elected. Mail in or vote in person by June 7.
