Fundraising is a big thing in Sonoma Valley. Lots of wealthy residents, means lots of nonprofits, which means lots of big, fancy, expensive fundraisers that many of us rarely get to attend.
So, it’s pretty epic when there is a fundraiser that (1) I can afford and (2) helps me save money doing something I love.
That favorite thing? Drinking fine wine and eating great food at one of our fine dining establishments here in Sonoma.
The no corkage bag is back, and all proceeds from the sale of the bags benefits Sonoma’s local Kiwanis Club of Sonoma Plaza Foundation.
And the best part? The bag only costs $35!
The foundation supports local projects in our community, including distributing personalized dictionaries to every 3rd grader in Sonoma Valley, which is often the first book a child owns; building and painting for exhibitions at the Sonoma Valley Art Museum; delivering meals to individuals in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas; and improving local school grounds by building picnic areas, playgrounds, and landscaping.
The bag gets you free corkage, from October 1 until March 31, 2017, at four Sonoma restaurants: Sonoma Grille, Depot Hotel, Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar, and the Red Grape. That will save you $10-$15 and enable you to BYOB for six months!!
And honestly, those are hands-down four of the best restaurants in Sonoma Valley. I mean seriously. Good job Kiwanis.
Buy one for yourself and one for your friends. Contact Bob Nicholas at [email protected] to get your bag.
