With the title of “Sonoma’s Best Bartender” on the line, local mixologists employ all the tricks of the trade for the 10th annual Sonoma Bar Battle on Saturday November 12, 6 p.m. at the Sonoma Veterans Building.
The cocktail throw-down challenges teams to concoct a drink using a just-revealed secret ingredient – like Iron Chef, but with booze, ice and teeny umbrellas. Meanwhile, guests sample the creations from participating bars and restaurants, and vote for “Best Decorated Booth” and “Best Fan Cocktail.”
Participating this year will be the 2015 defending champ, B&V Whiskey Bar & Grille, plus Saddles Steakhouse, Mary’s Pizza Shack on the Plaza, Murphy’s Irish Pub, HopMonk Tavern, The Swiss Hotel, Carneros Bistro, Sonoma Grille, Rossi’s 1906, Town Square, Aventine, Maya and The Plaza Bistro.
New this year is the addition of tasting stations for distilled spirits throughout the building. For the seventh year Gloria Ferrer will host a sidebar competition, with a separate award to the bartender making the best new cocktail using a Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine.
Live music will b provided by T-Luke & The Tight Suits.
Tickets are $35 in advance at Steiners Tavern, Town Square, Eraldi’s Menswear, Mary’s Pizza Shack on the Plaza and Rossi’s 1906; also available on-line at www.sonomabarbattle.com. If not sold out in advance, tickets will be sold at the door for $40. This event is for ages 21 and older.
Proceeds are split between the Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor 111 and local Veterans organizations
