The Ray Charles Project, a swinging sextet with serious rock, jazz and blues credentials, jams through the Charles songbook in a July 15 concert in Sonoma. The ensemble includes vocalist Tony Lindsay (Santana); guitarist Chris Cain (Albert King, Boz Scaggs); bassist DeWayne Pate (Huey Lewis and the News); and, on keyboards, Jim Pugh (Robert Cray Band).

The 7 p.m. show is part of the “Jazz in the Barn” series of intimate gigs in a private barn on Sonoma’s Carriger Road, with “ice, no host bar, small nibbles and wine glasses.” $30-$40. 7 p.m. $30-$40. Many Moons Ranch, Sonoma. Sonomavalleyjazzsociety.org. 707.933.0700.
