May all your Christmases be Bing

Posted on December 2, 2019 by Sonoma Valley Sun

In the film White Christmas, Bing Crosby croons the Christmas classic, among many other Irving Berlin tunes, in the 1954 comedy that starts in the army and ends up with an impromptu Broadway-style stage show at a ski resort in Vermont.

Co-star Danny Kaye (a fine hoofer) handles the slapstick, while Rosemary Clooney (great singer) and Vera-Ellen (exceptional dancer) bedazzle the boys as the Haynes Sisters, who have a boffo act of their own, and join the show. Hijinks, banter, over-the-top costumes and, of course, romance ensue. This film was the debut of Paramount’s VistaVision process, which was a very big (and wide) deal at the time; perfect for the big screen at the Sebastiani Theatre. Monday, December 9. $10.

7 p.m. 476 First St. E. Sebastianitheatre.com.
