Two out of three means well

A 50-year-old Sonoma resident surrendered himself to Sonoma police for two outstanding warrants: a traffic-related offense and a probation violation. During a pre-booking search, a deputy discovered in the man’s wallet three courtesy checks featuring someone else’s name and post office box. One check was written in the amount of $10 but otherwise blank. The resident said that the name and checks belonged a generous girlfriend, but a phone call revealed that the woman didn’t know the suspect, hadn’t given any checks to anyone and hadn’t used the P.O. box in question for more than a year. The man added possession of stolen property to his rap sheet and was taken to county jail.
