Former ten-term U.S. Congressmember Lynn Woolsey will discuss “Why is this election so important?” at a Monday, June 27 meeting of the Sonoma Valley Democrats. All are welcome to the 6:30 p.m. event, which includes remarks by Supervisor Susan Gorin, at Vintage House, 264 First Street East.
Tickets are $25 per individual, or $45 per couple, at the door Wine and appetizers will be served. Funds will go towards the club opening a local office. “We are the only Democratic Club in Sonoma County that is striving to open a local headquarters” said organizer Beth Hadley, “which will be a boon to those who aren’t always able to drive to Santa Rosa to the County H.Q. for election materials and other resources.”
Woolsey served from 1993 to 2013 in what was then the Sixth District, representing all of Marin County and most of Sonoma County. A leading progressive voice and staunch anti-war advocate, Woolsey was a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Committee on Science and Technology, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which she co-chaired from 2010 until her retirement in 2013.
