County names local road repair sites

Sonoma County has approved the first contracts of the 2017 Pavement Program, kicking off construction on 54 miles of roads this summer, as part of a 97 mile program approved last year. Sonoma Valley locations are:
- 5th Street West, Leveroni Road to City Limit
- Arnold Drive, Leveroni Road to Craig Avenue
- Boyes Boulevard, Arnold Drive to Highway 12
- Lovall Valley Road, Fourth Street East to Lovall Valley Road
- Napa Road, Eighth Street East to Hwy 12/121
- El Dorado Drive, from Los Banos Drive to Riverside
2017 program in the works:
- 8th Street East, from Railroad Tracks to Napa Road
- Grove Street, from End Improved section to Arnold Drive
- Poplar Ave, from Railroad Avenue to Cypress Avenue
“Our crumbling roads are in even worse shape after our rainiest winter on record,” said Supervisor Susan Gorin. “I am absolutely focused on targeting our roads funding this year on those roads in very poor condition, threatening to collapse and carrying many vehicles around the district and the County.
In the next few years, Gorin said she would strategically focus funding on neighbor roads throughout the Sonoma Valley. “With our continued general fund contributions in 17-18, along with $1m in TOT funding from Measure L (thanks to our voters), and additional funding from SB1, we will be making significant improvements in our road inventory,” she said. “But so much more needs to be done, and I look forward to working to make a difference in our Valley.”
