Message from space

Posted on August 7, 2019 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Astronaut Suni Williams, who commanded the International Space Station and very well may become the first woman to walk on the moon, makes a Sonoma Speaker Series appearance on Monday, August 19.

Williams will share her story of the space program and her career achievements, including seven spacewalks, 322 days spent in space, and more than 50 hours space-walking. She will be introduced by local Sonoma resident and former NASA astronaut, Rusty Schweickart.

A graduate of the US Naval Academy, Williams is among an elite group of just 12 women who are in the running for a moon mission in 2024. In conversation with her Annapolis classmate and friend, Sonoma’s Bill Angeloni. 7 p.m. $35-$75. Hanna Center Auditorium, 17000 Arnold Drive. Sonomaspeakerseries.com.
