The official dog day of summer

Posted on August 8, 2019 by Sonoma Valley Sun

They can’t hit the curve ball, but they sure can chase it. Arnold Field goes to the dogs on Friday, August 16, with Bark in the Park, the annual day that dogs are welcome at the Sonoma Stompers baseball game.

Canines in costume can parade around the bases during the Pooch Promenade, with prizes awarded.

The game begins at 6:05 p.m., but come early to socialize with the dogs and meet the adoptable animals in the Pets Lifeline adoption van. Gates open at 5:35.

“We at Pets Lifeline are very pleased to sponsor the team mascot, Rawhide, and this annual event. Bark in the Park is a fun night to come to the ball park,” said Nancy King, Executive Director of Pets Lifeline.

In 2014 Rawhide, the beloved mascot of the Sonoma Stompers, moved from his roots at the Cow Palace where he was the mascot for a short lived hockey team named the Bulls. If you look carefully at Rawhide’s shirt sleeve, you will see the Pets Lifeline logo.
