Glen Ellen loves its parade

Posted on October 19, 2019 by Sonoma Valley Sun

What Glen Ellen’s annual parade lacks in length — the whole town is about two blocks long — it makes up in community spirit.

The 2019 Glen Ellen Village Fair was another spirited event, as the one and only main street was closed down for food and crafts booths, music stages, kids games and lots of small-town charm.

This year’s theme: “Small Town, Big Heart.” The Grand Marshall was Jim Shere.

Said Leslie Vaughan, one of the event’s volunteer producers, “It was as perfect of a day as we could’ve asked for!”

Awards for the parade entrants:

Judge’s Choice: Tom Leonard’s 1923 Bucket T

Honorable Mention:  Neil Shepard’s “The Swan” Wagon

Best Theme:  Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority

Honorable Mention:  Laurie Pile/Glen Ellen Village Quilters’ “Small Town, Big Heart” Quilt

Best Costume:  Chuck Palenchar’s “Wolfhouse to Firehouse” Puppet
