Teen Services Sonoma has launched its’ Lovin’ Oven Culinary Academy, a free course offering in-depth training and practical experience. Chef/Instructor Paloma Apgar covers all the
essentials: knife skills, equipment basics, cooking techniques, and front-of-house hospitality training.

Teens completing the program will receive a Culinary Certificate, a $100 stipend for attending all classes and a guaranteed trial shift with one of the LOCA business partners including Ramekins, the girl & the fig, and caterer Chef Bryan Jones.

For kids interested in a career in the industry, it’s a great introduction, says Jonathan Beard, who teaches culinary classes at Sonoma Valley High School. “You will learn industry specific skills that will help you
find work in restaurants, hotels, and other food related businesses. Interested in front of the house (bussing and waiting) or back of the house (cooking and food prep)? This is the program
for you.”

The program will be offered at TSS four times each year.
