‘How to draw animal cartoons’ with the experts

The author/illustrator team of Vicki Whiting and Jeff Schinkel hosts a an interactive event at Readers’ Books on Saturday, January 25, 11 a.m. Using their books A Kid’s Guide to Drawing Cartoon Animals and Mind-Boggling Animal Puzzles, Vicki and Jeff will guide kids (five and above) and adults alike to draw 28 animals, step-by-step, as well as sharing cool codes, puzzles, word searches, fun facts and other activities.

The event on Saturday, January 25, is free. Children and parents are all welcome.

About the author: Vicki Whiting, a former teacher, is founder and president of Kid Skoop, an award-winning weekly educational page aimed at children 5-10 years old. Syndicated in more than 250 newspapers from California to Bangkok, each Kid Skoop page provides information combined with colorful graphics and interactive games and puzzles. Kid Scoop News is currently published in about 10 communities around the United States.

About the illustrator: Jeff Schinkel has loved to draw his whole life! As a kid, sometimes he was drawing when he should have been listening to the teacher in class. That’s when he knew he should go to art school, where he would want to hear everything the teachers had to say! Jeff attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and now he loves teaching kids to draw.

Readers’ Books is located at East Napa St. in Sonoma.
