When you need a fun project to keep the kids busy

Posted on March 25, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Just in time for kids (and parents) going a bit stir crazy, Sonoma Valley Museum of Art has put together ARTS@Home, special lessons available online for families working and learning from home.

These series of art lessons, prepared by SVMA arts education staff, can provide children with hours of stimulating and fun learning activities. Adults cab join in — or savor a bit of quiet time for themselves.

Each week SVMA is releasing new ARTS@Home learning activities. Lessons 1 is Drawing a Half-Portrait. Lesson 2 teaches how to create Shoebox Faces.

SVMA ARTS@Home also features a Resources Guide, a list of fun art-related resources that families can use while spending time at home.

ARTS@Home is an educational program that can serve students and support teachers as they endeavor to translate the classroom experience to home.  Some of the lessons continue to respond to SVMA’s current exhibitions, and some will include broader topics in art history or ways to encourage creativity and relieve stress.

Students can post images of their projects to Instagram with #artsathome or tag @sonomavalleymuseumofart
