Corn dogs and kettle korn: Sonoma County’s ‘Fair Food Frenzy’

Posted on August 12, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun
The carnival games are closed, there’s no livestock or flower show, and the Tilt-a-Whirl is shut down. But while this summer’s Sonoma County Fair has been canceled, one big draw is still packing them in — the food.
The drive-through Fair Food Frenzy, a greatest-hits collection of favorites like corn dogs, kettle korn and turkey legs, returns this weekend to the Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa.
A hit last weekend (3,100 cars, 3,400 funnel cakes), the event is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 14-16. Admission is free through Gate 2 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on Bennett Valley Road.
How it works: once you get to the cashier area you will be greeted by an employee who will take your order and collect payment (cash and credit accepted). After you order and pay, you will follow along to the food booths where runners will bring the food to your car.
Also on the vendor menu: corn on the cob, pulled-pork sandwich, churro, lemonade, gyro, cotton candy, and lots more. (Selections vary daily).
For the safety of guests and staff, customers will be asked to remain in their vehicles and wear a mask when interacting with staff; the process will be much like a restaurant drive-through experience.
