Trashion Fashion struts the virtual catwalk

Posted on November 16, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Sonoma Community Center’s Trashion Fashion, always a visual treat, moves its creative efforts online this year with two live-stream events. What’s Trashion? Garments made from recycled items and salvaged clothes, designed and handmade by community members who turn trash into treasure.

On November 21, it’s the Trashion Fashion Runway Show, a showcase of hot-mess haute couture, starting at 4 p.m.

“Since Trashion isn’t an indoor event this year, we decided to take these wonderful outfits and film them in various different locales throughout town,” says the Center’s Eric Jackson. “So now the show has also become a love letter to Sonoma.”

The Runway Show broadcast will include pre-recorded material shot on location in Sonoma combined with

commentary and reactions provided by returning Master of Ceremonies, Gary Saperstein, and a panel of judges. Prizes will be awarded during the show in multiple categories, and votes will be collected from viewers for the “People’s Choice Award.”

Trashion Fashion Sonoma is sponsored and partnered by Republic of Thrift, Recology, Chateau Sonoma, Cornerstone Sonoma, Sweet Scoops, Bon Marche, The Church Mouse, and the City of Sonoma.

The show is free, but registration is required at TrashionFashionSonoma.org.
