Sonoma Community Center’s ambitious fall calendar

Posted on September 9, 2021 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma Community Center has released its Fall Class Catalog, an exciting lineup of  classes in ceramics, fiber arts, fine arts, printmaking, and more. Both in-person and virtual classes are available.

“Our goal is really to offer something for everyone,” says Executive Director Charlotte Hajer. “Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, and no matter what your preferred medium, we hope that our lineup of classes, events, happy hours, and other experiences entices you to stretch your creative muscles.”

On the cover of the newly released Fall Catalog stands the Community Center’s current Resident Artist, Gabo Martinez.

You’ll find Gabo working in her studio, on a variety of colorful and captivating masterpieces, teaching a bi-lingual (English/Spanish) class (Fridays beginning September 17th), and hosting several workshops in October for Día de los Muertos, all leading up to her final community center show in November 2021.

There are lots more Día-themed classes and activities listed in the catalog as well, alongside information about the Community Center’s annual Day of the Dead Altar Lighting Ceremony on November 1.

Other catalog highlights are the incredible printmaking series, “Passport to Printmaking” (which also gives participants open access to the Community Center’s print studio), the free Queer Art Club (for teens 11 and up), US Map Embroidery, and an exciting variety of arts classes, with world-class ceramics, after-school, and fiber arts programming. Our fall programming features wonderful new teachers who represent a diversity of backgrounds, and who are excited to work with our community.

Besides the classes and events listed in the Fall Catalog, additional offerings continue to be added weekly – including happy hour events, pop-up classes, and more. Please check for more information: http://Sonomacommunitycenter.org.
