Simple Travel Activities that Will Make Your Trip Much More Enjoyable

Posted on September 20, 2021 by Allen Brown

Would you believe that many vacationers, even months after planning a trip, find themselves bored while on vacation? It’s an all too common theme. You make plans, and then nothing goes as planned. Well, such is life.

The thing that most people tend to forget while on vacation is that spontaneity is where most of the magic lives. It’s by going with the flow that you’ll be able to experience life organically, without forcing yourself into a schedule of activities.

For those who need to plan ahead, instead of spending tons of money on an experience that may or may not be fun at all, consider sticking to some timeless classics. These are the types of activities that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age.

Here, we’ll explore a few of these timeless and simple activities that are sure to make your trip much more enjoyable.

Hiking and Art

There’s not much that can be more enjoyable than taking a stroll through the woods, sitting down on a log and sketching out a picturesque scene in your own style.

Though not everyone is artistically inclined, it only takes a bit of creativity to get out and try your hand at a new activity. And, while this might be an activity best suited for a solo traveler, you can also make it fun for the whole family.

All over the country, artists bring their field easels to pristine locations to hopefully capture the essence of the moment with their hands. This doesn’t have to be an activity for bonafide artists alone. In fact, many nature retreat centers across the country offer this activity as a therapeutic treatment.

You’ll find that when you’re out among nature, the tranquility that surrounds you will soon penetrate, and you might just discover that you’re an artist after all.

Go Fishing

One activity that is timeless in itself is the act of fishing. This ancient form of aquatic hunting dates back over many millennia, and can be traced back to over 40,000 years through archaeological evidence, at least through the evidence that is currently known.

Fishing has a way of calming the mind, and just being out in the natural world has this tendency as well.

If you’re taking a solo trip, or you’re bringing your spouse and the whole crew, anyone of any age can learn how to fish. Even toddlers can learn how to cast a line, or just let them pretend with a stick and a string. It’s really that simple.

So, if you want to spend the day away from the hustle and bustle of tourist traps and resorts, get yourself a fishing tackle kit and head out to a secluded fishing hole and try your luck. Try this site to find a range of quality fishing gear for you.

Geocaching

Geocaching has slowly become more popular as the advancement of GPS technology has improved over the last couple of decades. If you’ve never heard of this before, that’s because it’s sort of a “hidden” pleasure among outdoor enthusiasts.

Geocaching is like treasure hunting, as there are literally millions of geocaches hidden around the world. You simply follow determined coordinates using a GPS device and hunt for the cache. Sometimes, hikers come upon these geocaches accidentally, but this activity also relies on the honor system.

If you find a geocache, it isn’t yours to keep. The proper etiquette to follow is to place an item of your own in the cache box, and take an item out of the cache to keep with you. You can then place the item you kept into another cache box if you desire, or keep it as a memento.

All in all, enjoying yourself while on vacation doesn’t have to cost you hundreds of dollars. In fact, there are numerous enjoyable activities that you can engage in for free. And it’s usually the simplest of activities that create the best experiences.
