The whole shabang

Sonoma’s Fourth of July Celebration — the parade, Plaza party and fireworks show — will return in 2022. “It’s been some time since we’ve been able to celebrate our nation together in person, and we’re thrilled that we can experience the full Fourth of July again,” says an enthusiastic Joe Keechler, parade organizer, for the Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters Association.

“This year’s parade theme is ‘Honoring Frontline Workers.’” The planned parade begins (10 a.m.) and ends at First St. E. and East Spain St. The Festival in the Plaza with an assortment of games, information booths, food, live entertainment, drinks and fun for the whole family kicks off at 11 a.m.

As the skies turn to dusk, the attention will shift to the General Vallejo’s field (West Spain at Third Street), for the fireworks show at about 9:30 p.m. Another tradition, that of a hometown celebration produced by volunteers with the grass-roots support of local citizens, continues as well.
