What’s your Sonoma Community Center story?

Posted on June 28, 2022 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma Community Center celebrates its 70th birthday this year, and is collecting stories and other memorabilia from the community for possible inclusion in a celebratory interactive history exhibition. The exhibition is being organized in partnership with artist Mike Acker and Jim Silverman, with support provided by the Historical Society. The exhibit will feature photos and stories from the Community Center’s 70-year history, and will include interactive components that showcase community memories.

Were you part of the Community Center in some way in the past – maybe as a volunteer, a Board member, or staff? Perhaps you performed on the Rotary stage, had a child in Musical Kindergarten, took classes, attended the original Boys (and Girls) Club, or participated in one of the other groups and organizations that got their start at the Center?

There are so many wonderful memories out there, and the SCC hopes you’ll  share yours with our community!

The center is looking for personal and/or historical photos, artwork, stories (written down or verbally told), and more. Do you have posters or fliers from past performances and events? They’d love those, too!

Please submit your contributions to Molly Spencer, engagement manager, by July 31. You can email her at [email protected], drop off hard copies to the main office at the Community Center at 276 E. Napa Street, or call her at (707) 938-4626 for more information.
