Nick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders), songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart, pop star for a short-lived career, the headmaster of British rock for the long term, and with his new album.
Some 40-plus years after charting with “Cruel to Be Kind,” Lowe is still recording albums, collaborating, and touring; his live show, said the New York Times, is “elegant and nearly devastating.”
