Exploring the Casinos of Sonoma and Sonoma County

Posted on January 19, 2023 by Allen Brown

Sonoma, if you’re not already familiar with it, is a city and county (Sonoma County) in California. The county itself is a mere 30 miles north of San Francisco and boasts more than 425 wineries.  Sonama, naturally, is one of the main cities in California’s wine country and is in the center of the Sonama Valley AVA, which has played a major role in California’s wine history.

As you might correctly deduct from the above, wine is one of the things for which Sonoma is most famous. Sonoma County also boasts meadows, mountains, fields, rivers, valleys and more, which make it amazing for hiking, and 55 miles of Pacific coastline. While in Sonoma, you might decide to spend some time in one of the casinos. Below is a look at why you should plan when you visit a casino at some of the casinos in Sonoma and the surrounding area.

Why plan?

Some casinos are easy to get to. Others aren’t. When planning to visit a casino, you must decide which one will suit your itinerary. How far are you willing to travel to one?

Some of the casinos are also resorts, which means there’s lot to do, so you’ll have to decide what activities to do, what you want to see, how long you plan to spend at the tables and more. That includes how much you want to spend, as you’ll have to manage your bankroll for playing casino games.

Of course, it’s always a good idea to practice before stepping into a casino. One way to do this is to head to the casinos online. Lots of them offer free casino slot games for fun. These are an excellent way to learn how to play different casino games or, if you already know how, to brush up on your skills. Then you can feel more confident when you sit down at the casino tables in land-based establishments.

Which casinos to visit

While staying in Sonoma, there are several casinos you can visit. Here are some of the main ones:

River Rock Casino

River Rock Casino, out in Geyserville, prides itself on making players feel right at home. There you can play variations of poker and blackjack, and the casino runs its own exclusive version of roulette called River Rock Roulette. If you’d rather play slots, you can choose from more than 1,000, or if you fancy a touch of the VIP treatment, you can head to the High Limit room, where there are up to 60 of the casino’s most popular slots.
