Hanna Center is included in the State of California Department of Health Care Services’ recent $119-million funding cycle. The grant, one of 98 statewide, will support the capacity and infrastructure of Hanna’s new Community Mental Health Hub, scheduled to open to the public in May. The facility, says CEO Cameron Safarloo, “will dramatically increase Hanna’s ability to provide trauma-informed preventative care and early interventions to our students, community youth, adults, and local families.” The goal: “strengthen our alignment with community partners to best meet the critical mental health needs of the unserved and underserved population in Sonoma Valley.”
Jack London Park Partners has been awarded by Community Foundation Sonoma County a $49,200 grant for its “Nature’s Design” education program. Seventh graders from county schools, including Altimira in Sonoma, make multiple-visit field trips focused on ecosystem dynamics and biodiversity. “We are introducing the next generation of environmental stewards to new ways of looking at nature,” says Matt Leffert, the park’s executive director. Teen Services/Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley augmented its new “ Vocational & College Scholarship program with the help of an anonymous donor. The Across the Finish Line fund will award $25,000 each year to Sonoma Valley students attending four-year or two-year institutions, trade schools, or vocational training programs. This program aims to provide trajectory-altering support for Sonoma Valley teens to attend and complete their studies. Teenservices.org
Impact100 Sonoma — one of Sonoma Valley’s largest funders — will award a record $337,400 in grants to local nonprofits this year. That amount will raise the group’s cumulative grant total since 2010 to $3,661,900. For the third year in a row, the women’s collective giving organization will award multiple Impetus Grants of up to $25,000 to selected nonprofits, chosen by member vote. “We begin the year with a record-breaking 332 committed member philanthropists,” said Membership Co-Chair Sandee Crisp. “This is the power of women giving as one.”
