Art Exhibition at the Sonoma Valley Regional Library

Libby Mills and Will Durkee

The Sonoma Valley Regional Library is hosting an exhibition of textiles and drawings by Libby Mills and Will Durkee from November 1-30. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception on Friday November 14 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm in the library’s meeting room. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibition will be available to view for the entire month of November during opening hours when the meeting room is not in use.

Libby Mills is a Sonoma based artist who grew up in Montclair, NJ, in a home surrounded by decorative arts and antiques. After graduating from Chico State University with a degree in Fine Art she worked for a commercial screen-printing company. While raising two children she worked from home producing hand painted silk ties, a creative pursuit that evolved into a lifelong passion. She continues to produce original paintings and participates in art festivals showcasing her wearable art, wall hangings, and table runners. She believes that wearing hand painted clothing can bring out the artist within each of us.

Will Durkee’s inspiration comes from nature, music, biking, trees, animals, friends and adventures.  He likes to draw things that he perceives as amazing or unreal, especially graphics and cartoony/animation art.  Will loves creating images that depict ridiculously surreal explorations.  He is involved in the Bay Area arts/music scene and designs posters and t-shirts.

This exhibition is part of an art series organized by Friends of the Library President Cathy Coleman with the assistance of volunteers from the Friends of the Sonoma Valley Library.
