Scrooge, the Musical: December

Sonoma Arts Live Theater Company is presenting the holiday classic “Scrooge the Musical,” a tale of redemption based on the Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol. The show opens Friday, December 5 and runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. through December 21. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m..

“This show shares the beloved story of Ebenezer Scrooge in a delightful musical way. We hope our patrons make this a must see with their families and friends,” says Artistic Director Jaime Love. “We are proud to have longtime SAL director Larry Williams (Frankenstein, Rumors) at the helm, not only as director but also as the man we love to hate, Scrooge.” The show’s Assistant Director is Katie Kelley.

Williams has added magical projections, Costumer Barbara McFadden provides the authentic Victorian look, and Choreographer Bridget Codoni promises innovative dance to bring this tale to life, all with a magical, ethereal feel.

“Scrooge, The Musical” is a show by award-winning songwriter Leslie Bricusse, creator of the musical versions of “Jekyll & Hyde” and “Willy Wonka.” It received four Academy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations in its movie version.

It takes many actors to bring this tale of redemption to the stage. Joining veteran SAL star Larry Williams (“My Fair Lady”, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”) interpreting Ebenezer Scrooge, is David Shirk (“Sylvia”) as Jacob Marley. Barbara McFadden, new to SAL, plays Ghost of Christmas Past. Katherine Arisman is Tiny Tim. In addition to playing Ensemble roles, Owen Hardisty (“Little Women”) is Bob Cratchit; Andrew Herold (“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”) plays Nephew and Young Scrooge; John Sellen, new to the SAL stage, plays Jollygoode and Fezziwig; Julia Holsworth (“Little Women”) plays Mrs. Fezziwig; Thad Louviere, also new to the SAL stage, is Tom Jenkins; Cat Smith (“Merman’s Apprentice”) is Ghost of Christmas Present; and Sara Curtis “(Little Women”) plays Mrs. Cratchit. Additional members of the SAL Ensemble, playing a myriad of roles, are LC Arisman, Brooklyn Boatright, Nicole Love, Addie Lowe, Juliette Peterson, and Autumn Terredista. This show features many Sonoma and Napa locals.

Opening night tickets include a holiday cookie and punch reception, along with entertainment from Victorian carolers, The Arete Players of Dublin, CA. Arrival time for the reception is 6:45pm.
