A man burglarizing a Boyes Hot Springs house Saturday was chased down and subdued by the homeowner after fleeing the crime scene in the area of Calle Del Monte and Arroyo Road.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. when a man came home to find his house in disarray and his wallet missing, according to the Sheriff’s report.

As he looked around his home, he found a man, 34, inside. The suspect ran out the door and down the street. The resident gave chase and alerted neighbors to call 911.

Upon deputies’ arrival, the suspect had been taken into custody by the resident, who had captured the burglar and tied his hands behind his back with a pair of shoelaces, Sgt. Dave Pedersen stated.

The victim’s wallet was found in a trash can along the chase route.

The suspect is a documented Criminal Street Gang member, Pederson said, and was released early from prison on 11/7/2011 to be supervised locally under the Post-release Community Supervision Program.

He was booked at Sonoma County Jail for residential burglary and a PRCS “No Bail” hold.
