Three-car wreck on Hwy 12

Posted on October 29, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A Sonoma woman lost control of her BMW on Highway 12 in Glen Ellen Sunday, triggering a three-car wreck that injured three and snarled Sunday afternoon traffic.

Claudia Duranolivera, 22, of Sonoma, was traveling eastbound when her car crossed over the double yellow line near the Arnold Drive stoplight. Her 2000 BMW XZ4 sideswiped a 2005 Dodge Ram traveling in the opposite direction. The Ram crashed into the guardrail and bounced head-on into the path of a third vehicle, a 1999 Chevy Silverado, sending both into a deep roadside gulley. The BMW, meanwhile, spun into a concrete barrier and came to a stop in the middle of the highway.

The CHP reported that the lone passenger of the Silverado, Eileen Becchio, 38, of Susun City, sustained major injuries. Norma Meza, 30, of Santa Rosa, who was the single passenger of the Ram, received moderate injuries. Duranolivera, who was traveling alone, had minor injuries. All were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured, according to the CHP report. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, it said.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m.
