Run with it

Posted on May 28, 2014 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Hit the Road Jack run is this weekend and the event producer, On Your Mark Events, has again promised all proceeds will directly benefit the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation. You’d think the foundation would have known about that, like last year when its staff was deeply involved with promotion and such. This year, not a peep from the producer; the foundation learned it was the beneficiary from reading it on the event website. What the heck, just run, jog or walk with it… BTW, the funds raised are earmarked for the high school track team.

The May 31 gala production of “The Full Monty” at the Sebastiani Theatre will feature six guest bums. As in, cameos by male celebrities dropping trou as part of the show. Michele Rouse admits to being a bit embarrassed that her husband Tom, the Sonoma Mayor, is taking part. Then again, shouldn’t she get a discount, having seen that one act many times before?

The line-up for the B.R. Cohn Fall Music Festival is out (page 23), but no Doobie Brothers this year. What? Isn’t that kind of like seeing a rock concert, back in the day, without a doobie?… There’s only one thing to say about the June 8 closing of Sonoma’s Meritage Martini Oyster Bar and Grille: That shucks.
