Sonoma’s own Mackenzie Albrect has signed on with the 2015 Cal volleyball program. Albrect, a 6’1 setter and a senior at Sonoma Valley High School, will join the Cal program in the fall. Albrect is one of Sonoma County’s most noted volleyball players. She has been named an All American, with Honorable Mention honors from both Under Armour and PrepVolleyball.com, the latter being the most prominent amateur volleyball news source.

“We are very, very excited about Mackenzie joining our team as a future setter,” Cal head coach Rich Feller said. “She is going to provide some great depth in that position right away.”

During her tenure with Sonoma Valley High, she led the team to win the 2014 North Coast Section championship. Albrect was a three-time Sonoma County League Most Valuable Player and a member of the USA Volleyball A1 High Performance Team, which is a pipeline program for high school athletes with interest in playing on the USA Olympic team. This year, she received the 2015 Toyota/Steve Young Scholar-Athlete Award, for having “exemplary” performance both academically and athletically, and “whose personal standards and accomplishments are a positive role model for others.”

Congratulations Mackenzie, we can’t wait to see you take the court at Cal!
