Broadway, Shakespeare continue

Posted on August 21, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

broadway 1August is suddenly live theatre month, with the opening of “Proof” and continuing productions at two different outdoor venues.

On the hill in Glen Ellen, the Transcendence Theatre Company presents “Rhythm of Life,” the latest production of “Broadway Under the Stars.” The troupe is incredibly talented and exceedingly clever – how else to trace the history of the Boy Band (from barber shop quartet to ‘N Sync) in five hilarious minutes?

Performance days are Friday-Sunday, August 21-23. The Jack London Park grounds open at 5 p.m., with food and wine for sale, followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m. $25-$37. 877.424.1414. Transcendencetheatre.org.

Meanwhile, the Avalon Players present “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Buena Vista Winery, Thursdays through Sundays, August 20-30. “This play has it all,” says Director Kate Kennedy. “Love, comedy, dancing, betrayal, and an ending that makes Shakespeare under the stars an epic evening!”

Seating at 6, show at 7 p.m. Tickets $35, students under 18, $20. VIP tables available. Buena Vista Winery, 18000 Old Winery Road. Sonomashakespeare.com.
