Sonoma Valley health center CEO rescinds resignation, will stay at post

Posted on August 23, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Sonoma Valley Community Health Center CEO Cheryl Johnson has agreed to the facility’s board of directors request to rescind her resignation and stay on the job.

According to a statement released this morning, The Board made the request after considering the value Johnson adds to the Health Center and the Sonoma Valley community.

“We feel that her continued tenure as CEO is in the best interest of all concerned,” said Rich Gantenbein, SVCHC board chair

Johnson announced in May that she would step down from the post effective December 31. At that time, she said the long work hours made it hard to live a balanced life.

“The Board feels fortunate that it was able to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement that would allow Ms. Johnson to achieve the work-life balance she craves,” Gantenbein said today.

SVCHC is a federally qualified health center whose mission is to provide accessible, quality health care to those who need it, especially the underserved.

The center provides primary, prenatal, behavioral health and dental care as well as other ancillary services.  In 2015, the Center saw 7,000 people who generated over 33,000 visits.

  1. Sonoma deserves better. This CEO resigned. She obviously doesn’t have what it takes to lead this agency. I have gone through so many clinic doctors there.. Staff just keep leaving, and most have told me they left because they have no confidence in the CEO.
