Dodd sides with corporate interests

Posted on September 22, 2016 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Assemblyman Bill Dodd voted “NO” two weeks ago on AB 1066, a bill that will provide farmworkers overtime several years from now. Governor Brown has signed the bill. When you see vineyard workers laboring for hours understand they receive no overtime pay.

I’m astounded to learn that Bill Dodd, candidate for Senate District 3 that includes the City of Sonoma, is holding a fundraiser October 25 in Newport Beach aboard a harbor cruiser ironically named “Real Overtime!” The cost is $2,000 per person to cruise and $1,000 per person to schmooze.

His opponent, Mariko Yamada, our Assemblywoman in the Springs, Yolo, and Solano Counties until termed out, says she is shocked at Dodd’s vote. Further she says that the “former Republican Bill Dodd has a long history of siding with corporate interests, and walking away from tough votes that would protect our environment, seniors, and consumers.”

From personal experience when Assemblywoman Yamada was our representative and we had a question or problem in the Springs area, Mariko Yamada was always here to assist us. When you complete your ballot, Vote for Mariko Yamada, State Senate District 3.

Sonoma citizens will be well rewarded.

  1. Dodd is a closet Republican. Like many right-wing corporate shills, it is an open secret that he switched his registration to improve his chances to be elected in a majority democrat district. This was done with the encouragement and full backing of the other closeted Republicans, namely, all the wine and tourism corporate interests likewise masquerading as “moderate Democrats.” Mariko Yamada is the real Democrat in this race, and the one endorsed by the Sonoma democrat party. Dodd is the one that inundated our mailboxes in the primaries with endless glossy say-nothing mailers, all paid for by the usual suspects.
