Volunteers can make history at Depot Park Museum

Posted on January 28, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma Valley Historical Society invites volunteers to help re-staff the Depot Park Museum and “be part of history,” according to Sandi Hansen, SVHS president.

classroomA docent commitment can be as little as three hours a month. The Depot Park Museum is open three days per week, Friday through Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. “We would like to share our museum with the public more often, but do not have enough volunteers at this time,” Hansen said.

More than one of our dedicated museum docents has reached or gone beyond 25 years of volunteering, and others, after several years of volunteering, have gone on to other careers.

Volunteers are asked to work one three-hour shift per week., welcoming guests, answering questions and running the gift shop. “Mostly we need people who like to visit with others from around the world,” Hansen said. “Be a part of Sonoma Valley… be a part of history!”
