New tour offered by local historical
character-actor
historian
George Webber, renowned for making “History Come Alive” with his walking tour impersonations of General Vallejo and Mark Twain, is rolling out a new tour beginning June 3.
The Sonoma Plaza History/Food/Wine Experience offers an intimate, dramatic learning experience. This new tour combines all of Webber’s areas of expertise – history, food, and wine – and is presided over by four separate individuals, all played by the unforgettable Webber.
According to him, this is more than a tour. It’s a performance art experience, that will offer historical insights, entertain and give a deeper appreciation of the culture, personalities, food, wine and history of Sonoma. All tours take place on the historic Sonoma Plaza.
“For the first time, all my characters will be performing on the same day on three scheduled tours,” said Webber. “Visitors can enjoy all three experiences and discover why Sonoma is the perfect wine country destination.”
Each part of the Sonoma Plaza History/Food/Wine Tour may be purchased separately or as a package of all three for $65.
Reservations are required and availability is limited. For information, call 707.694.5097.
Sonoma Safeway ranks first in
charity drive
The Sonoma Safeway on West Napa Street raised more money during last month’s charity drive for Easter Seals than 22 other Safeways in the grocery’s District 2 chain of stores ranging from Vallejo to Windsor.
The fund-raising drive allowed Sonoma Safeway to contribute more than $7,500 to support Easter Seals disability services. Assisted by local middle school and high school students, the supermarket contributed hotdogs, burgers, buns, drinks and all the condiments. Cindy Barker, personnel manager for Safeway, said the store couldn’t have done it without the generosity of customers and community. “Some people came by and didn’t even take any food or drink, they just gave 20 bucks. Others just gave what they could,” said Barker. “Safeway Sonoma is proud to be part of a community that has such a generous spirit for those in need.”
