In their regular meeting Tuesday evening, the school board trustees will consider a list of recommendations from the superintendent to address the anticipated state budget reductions. In addition, the trustees hope to reinstate programs cut several years ago and to restore the mandated reserves.
According to the agenda package, recommended savings include:
$75,000 Reorganize administration
$40,000-57,000 Reduce library hours by 20 percent
$50,000 Reduce transportation costs
$105,000 Shift custodial costs to Maintenance and Operations
$14,000 Increase athletic fees by 25 percent
$22,000 Reduce K-12 sports and co-curricular by 10 percent
The trustees will consider formation of a District Reconfiguration Task Force to review (with stakeholder committees) possible school closure, school reconfiguration, calendar change, and attendance area change.
The meeting starts at 6 PM in the District Administrative Office at 17850 Railroad Avenue in Boyes Hot Springs.
