Woodland Star and Sonoma Charter School welcome new teachers

Sonoma Charter School welcomes two new teachers for the 2008-2009 school year.

Jason Page, from Sebastopol, will teach grade 7 and 8 English and social studies, graduated from Hutchins School of Liberal Studies, at Sonoma State  University with a B.A. and multi-subject credential. This is his first year teaching.

Julie Macdonald, of Napa, earned her Montessori credential through the San Leandro Bay Area teaching credential program. She has been a Montessori teacher for five years at Sunrise Montessori School in Napa and is now in the Cal State Teach program.

Woodland Star welcomes five new teachers.


Carrie Reuther earned her Waldorf teaching certificate and M.Ed in Waldorf Education from Antioch University New England, her B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and her California multiple subject credential from San Francisco State University. She most recently taught first and second Grade at Yuba River Charter School in Nevada City, CA.

Mary Alice Reis earned her Waldorf teacher certification and also her Handwork teacher certification at the Waldorf Institute at Sunbridge College in New York. She earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Southern Oregon University and her M.A. and multiple subject teaching credential also from Southern Oregon University. Reis also taught for four years at Sonoma State University and as a preschool teacher for four years.

Bob Harrington earned his B.A. in History from University of California Santa Cruz, an  M.A. in International Affairs with an emphasis in History from Ohio University and his multiple subject teaching credential from Dominican University. He has studied and taught internationally at the university level in Indonesia, Japan and Russia.


Stacy Duval, Math Specialist, earned her B.A. in Economics with an emphasis in Computer Science at UCLA and her Waldorf certificate at Emerson College. She has taught at Summerfield Waldorf School, Emerson College and Michael Hall School in Forest Row, England.

Katelyn Willens earned her B.A. in history at Trinity College, an M.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing at Sonoma State University, an M.A. in music education at Sonoma State University, her multiple subject teaching credential at the University of San Francisco, and her Waldorf certification at Rudolf Steiner College.

Sonoma Valley Unified School District welcomes three new principals: Claudia Berkman to Dunbar Elementary School, Paula Hunter to Sonoma Charter School, and Sheila Reilly to Woodland Star Charter School.


Claudia Berkman holds a Masters in Education from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Juris Doctorate and Public Interest Certificate from Santa Clara University School of Law.

Paula Hunter holds an M.A. in education from the University of Massachusetts, in Boston. Previously, she was at San Carlos Charter Learning center, before that worked Nueva School in Hillsborough, CA.

Sheila Reilly earned her B.A. from Eastern Illinois University, her nursing degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and is completing her M.B.A. at Sonoma State University. She has studied Waldorf education for many years and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Waldorf Education from Touro University.
