The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters is warning that a man conducting door-to-door surveys on the November election is falsely identifying himself as one of their employees.
“First of all, we don’t do surveys,” County Clerk Janice Atkinson said Tuesday. “We print the ballots and count the votes. … Second, we never go door-to-door – we don’t have that much staff.”
The report is so far limited to the Santa Rosa area, where a resident told Atkinson’s office Monday that the mystery surveyor refused to provide identification when asked. No other clues were provided as to the man’s motives or affiliation.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact local police or sheriffs. Those with questions about the upcoming election may call the Registrar of Voters office at 565-6800.
