Sonoma police are asking the public’s help in finding the suspects behind a drive-by burglary Tuesday afternoon at Sassarini Elementary School.
The victim had parked her Dodge Caravan at the school around 3:12 p.m. and was walking to meet her child when she heard a loud crash behind her, Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Pedersen said yesterday. Looking up, she saw an old four-door compact car with dirty orange paint driving off at a high rate of speed – leaving the Caravan’s driver-side window smashed and the woman’s purse missing from the front seat.
Pedersen said the woman jumped in her car and chased the suspects, northbound up Fifth Street West but soon lost them. Police broadcast an all-points bulletin but were unable to locate the vehicle. The Caravan driver didn’t get the license number and was only able to describe the occupants as two males.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sonoma Police Department at 996.3602.
